Why Loud Mouth?

As dentists we were concerned about the amount of abrasive, ineffective and very expensive treatments that people were using to whiten their teeth. This is why, after much research and planning we have developed express whitening strips with a unique formulation that will allow an easy, fun, safe, effective and in-expensive method to whiten teeth.

Loud mouth express teeth whitening strips is a dental-grade formulation that has been specifically designed to ensure maximum results with zero sensitivity. The following key ingredients are included: Propylene Glycol, Glycerol, Water, Hydrogen Peroxide (6%), Carbomer,Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium, Polyvinylpyrrolidone, Menthol, Sodium Hydroxide.

Lets get nerdy

  • Hydrogen peroxide or non peroxide whitening ?

There has been a lot of marketing around peroxide free teeth whitening, which is promised to whiten teeth. The truth is that products that do not contain dental grade hydrogen peroxide (HP) (or ingredients that release it) are just not affective at lifting stains in the tooth. This has been proven in a number of clinical trials. Peroxide free whitening gels or tooth pastes contain sodium bicarbonate (bicarb soda) and or charcoal. These ingredients are very abrasive and can cause long term damage to the surface of enamel. These ingredients also only remove superficial stains on teeth and can remove deeper staining which is often required when wanting to whiten teeth.

  • What is peroxide free whitening and does it work?

‘Peroxide-free gels’ or PAP whitening which is Phthalimidoperoxycaproic acid is a synthetic organic peroxy acid derived from caproic acid and phthalimide. This compound is mainly used as a bleaching activator in laundry detergents and house cleaning agents. The problem with using these products is that there is limited clinical trials, meaning that we don’t really know the long term side effects of these ingredients on enamel. You will most likely be disappointed if you are expecting a big change with peroxide free gels.

  • Clinical studies over the last 15 years

In one In-vitro study on human enamel, commonly purchased over the counter whitening products containing sodium chlorite or Phthalimidoperoxycaproic acid showed the greatest negative effect on the structural of enamel according to scanning electron microscopy. In addition, there was a significant reduction in enamel hardness compared to other products. These results showed that PAP based products produced less colour change than saline which was used as a control.

  • Dental teeth whitening

All dental professional whitening contains HP which is an active ingredient that is clinically proven to whiten teeth. In one study by Cua et al. tested the comparison between HP Versus Non-peroxide Whitening Strips. Peroxide whitening strips had superior whitening efficacy compared to non-peroxide strips and low and safe concentration of hydrogen peroxide did not compromised tooth structure integrity through enamel erosion.

How dose it actually work

The active whitening ingredients can remove deep discolouration from wine, coffee, smoking and berries. The oxygen molecules in this ingredient react with the discoloured molecules in your teeth resulting in whitening the tooth. Our whitening gel contains a safe percentage of HP which at a safe level breaks down the unwanted colours which are trapped in the porous enamel. Every country has a number of regulations regarding the percentage allowed for peroxide in whitening gels. Our Loud Mouth Express Whitening strips contains 6% peroxide which is in guidelines with the Australian dental regulations recommendations.
